Írta: Dr. Cser Ágnes 2009. máj. 25. hétfő, 00:00.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has maintained relations with the Chinese Economic and Social Council (CESC) since the inception of that body in 2001. The EESC has made several visits to China in recent years. In the Joint Declaration by the Presidents of the two Committees, which was approved in July 2002 in Beijing, it was agreed that building on the existing friendly relations between China and the European Union was in their common interest, and that both sides would engage in consultation, dialogue and research on economic and social issues of common interest as well as issues related to human rights and the rule of law, so as to promote economic development and social progress in China and the European Union.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)

Írta: Dr. Cser Ágnes 2007. december 17. hétfő, 00:00.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body of the European Union. The Committee's main task is to forward opinions to the three major European institutions (European Parliament, Council of the European Union and European Commission).

Through its 344 members the EESC acts as a bridge between Europe and civil society. The Committee's members represent the various economic and social components of organised civil society. They are drawn from national organisations of employers, employees and other interest groups, such as consumers, craftsmen, environmentalists, farmers, NGOs, the professions, socio-economic organisations and SMEs.
